Duke of Grafton's refusal of the vacant Garter, Lord Ailesbury (George William Frederick, 2nd Marquess of Ailesbury) or Lord Lansdowne (Henry Fitzmaurice, 4th Marquis of Lansdowne) proposed. Lord Ailesbury regarded as having the better claim. His previous refusal. Question of (Heralds' College) fees sometimes a difficulty. Proposals approved by Queen Victoria. Mr Baxter's refusal of appointment to Civil Lord of the Admiralty. Mr Hugh Culling Eardley Childers submitted.
