Description
Lord Palmerston on the passage in the House of Commons of a resolution criticising Mr Lowe's conduct regarding instructions to [education] Inspectors. Robert Lowe's resignation as Vice President of the Committee of Council for Education. Henry Austin Bruce (after 1st Lord Aberdare), the Under Secretary for the Home Office, submitted for appointment. Mr Disraeli to raise the question of the excess of Under Secretaries in the House of Commons over the legal number. Lord Palmerston's proposal for dealing with it. A Bill of Indemnity probably necessary.
