Lord Palmerston's reply to Queen Victoria (VIC/MAIN/A/32/55) in justification of his choice of Dr Jeune for the Bishopric of Peterborough. The function of the person responsible for advising Her Majesty in the choice of ecclesiastical dignitaries. His recommendations generally approved and recognised as not suggested by personal partialities or 'the spirit of job'. Qualifications of Dr Jeune. His usefulness in the House of Lords.
