DescriptionThe Archbishop of Canterbury says Reverend Bentinck would resign his canonry at Westminster, if assured that Reverend Ernest Hawkins would succeed him. The Canonry now worth £2000, but £1000 henceforth will go to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. Palmerston considers the generous resignation and recommends Hawkins.
