Massey as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Intention of proposing the Right Honourable George Ward Hunt dropped in the absence of precedent for opposition to Government on the point. Lord Palmerston on Henry Danby Seymour: no doubt 'in his eyes the great sin of the Government, namely, not having offered him office'.
