Description	Gladstone's answer to Ponsonby. The rule in the late Parliament as to the number of Opposition members on Committees. The intention of the present Government to ask for eight Government representatives on the Committee on Charles Bradlaugh's case; the opposition to have seven. Gladstone tells Ponsonby that he only mentioned the Secret Service as a matter of fact. The Service is so very secret that Gladstone has never had an opportunity of forming a practical judgement upon it.
