DescriptionGladstone expects the completion of discussions on Parliamentary procedure this evening. Cabinet decided to meet the distress in Ireland by using the machinery of the Poor Law. Cabinet agreed to a line of Postal Service between Zanzibar [Tanzania] and Aden, to assist our policy against the slave trade. Cabinet suggest Sir Evelyn Wood as Second in command of the Egyptian Army under the Khedive. Question of giving France a special share in the control of the Public Debt. Cabinet consider the share of the charge for the Egyptian campaign which should be borne by the Indian Government.
