DescriptionMemorandum by Anson. Melbourne expatiated on his pecuniary inconvenience, because, owing to the pressure on the money market, his Bankers called on him to pay up £10,000 advanced to him, because they wished to invest it more lucratively. His difficulty in doing this, because his estate was strictly entailed. Queen Victoria heard of this, and proposed to lend Melbourne £10,000, to be repaid when convenient. Melbourne gratefully accepted with Beauvale's approval. 3% interest. The landed property worth £20,000 yearly. No debt on the estate. Melbourne has laid our £25,000 on the estate.
