DescriptionPalmerston advises that the appointment of the Minister to the Republic of New Granada should be abolished, not being sufficiently important for a Diplomatic Mission. Captain Elliot, late Superintendent in China, to go to Texas. Palmerston advises abolishment of the diplomatic mission for the Republic of New Granada, and instead the appointment of a Consul General with rank of Chargé d'Affaires, as in Peru, etc. Suggests Mr Robert Stewart's appointment.
