TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Sir Robert Peel
Date25 October 1841
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseePeel, Robert, Sir, 2nd Baronet
DescriptionQueen Victoria writes, to Peel, that she understands that Lord Stuart de Rothesay has gone from England to his Appointment without an Audience, an irregularity she wishes not to be repeated. Doubtless a misapprehension. Queen Victoria approves Pennefather [for Chief Justice of Queen's Bench], but believes Mr Serjeant Jackson [suggested as Solicitor-General for Ireland] belongs to violent Orange party. Queen Victoria wishes Peel to ask Lord Haddington to send her some details of the intended reduction in the (Naval) Fleet.
