DescriptionMr Duncombe proposed that members of the Committee of Inquiry should take an oath that they had never been bribed. Negatived. Lord Howick proposed that no new favour should be shown to British colonial produce as compared with foreign [in connection with the tariff]. Negatived. City bankers and merchants contributed to relief of sufferers by fire. Peel suggests £200 by Queen Victoria. Groundless fears in Hamburg as to the action of British workmen there. Tents etc. to be sent.
