Description
Queen Victoria names rewards to various officers. She grants permission to troops who served in Afghanistan to accept and wear medals which the Governor-General of India has had struck for the Indian Army. Her Majesty hopes it will stimulate friendship between the two armies. Queen Victoria confers a baronetcy on Sir Hugh Gough and considers him a suitable successor to Sir Jasper Nicol as Commander-in-chief in India.
