Description
Reports of Sir Charles Bagot's health very unfavourable. Lord Haddington's note forwarded to Queen Victoria. Peel promises full attention. Thinks Major Malcolm may be employed as the channel of communications between the Government and Sir Henry Pottinger on important points connected with our relations with China. Also military advancement contemplated. The question of medals for naval and military services on the coast of China under joint consideration of the Board of Admiralty and Commander-in-Chief.
