Description | Peel thanks Queen Victoria for her observations, and trusts for condign punishment. The jury may convict [MacNaghten], but may acquit on ground of insanity. Peel encloses a letter from Drummond's sister, and asks for a room for her, since she was dependent on her brother. Letter referring to a Pension granted to Lady Carmarthen, and by reversion to Lady Wellesley, for the services of their brother, Sir T. Harvey. Peel's account of its suspension in Lady Wellesley's case, and of the understanding if she became a widow. |
