Description
Government proposal to vote £260,000 to remunerate innocent victims of holders of Exchequer bills through Beaumont Smith's forgeries. Agreed. (Smith transported.) Debate resumed. Russell censured every act of Lord Ellenborough [Governor-General of India], and declared him to blame not merely for the removal of the Gates of the Temple of Somnauth , but for the whole tenor of his civil administration.
