DescriptionThe whole [Army Estimates] voted. Motion for reduction of the Army by 10,000 from the Government's proposal. Also motion against increased vote for Yeomanry rendered necessary by the riots in the Autumn. Both motions negatived. Russell disapproved of Wellington retaining a seat in Cabinet in conjunction with Command of the Army. The House sustained the Government.
