DescriptionRemaining estimates [Navy and Ordnance] passed the Commons. Lord Brougham inquired in the Lords whether the Government intended to propose any Amendment of Law in respect of safe custody of lunatics having criminal designs. Lyndhurst replied in the affirmative. Public feeling in favour of amendment. The mode to be pursued requires serious consideration. Present law defective. Persecuted by a man named Dillon, who threatens Mr Henry Goulburn [Chancellor of the Exchequer]. Dillon under surveillance of police. Peel urges Goulburn to appeal to the Law for protection.
