Letter from Sir Robert Peel to Queen Victoria
Date
12 August 1843
Writer
Peel, Robert, Sir, 2nd Baronet

Victoria, Queen
Description
Considerable progress with public business [in the House of Commons]. Lady de Grey sends letter respecting Lord de Grey's health. Lord de Grey asks permission to return to England for a time because of ill-health. Inconvenient though it will be at this time, due to the state of the country [Ireland], Peel recommends acquiescence. The Commission of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has approved of the Church of Scotland Benefices Bill. Peel asks if it will be Queen Victoria's pleasure to have an Order of the Thistle Investiture on the Council day. If so, he will arrange with the Duke of Montrose.
