Description
Commons reply to the Speech from the Throne. Debate passed off satisfactorily. Speech generally approved of. Amendments moved: 1.That the grievances of the people should be inquired into before Supplies are voted; 2. In respect to Corn Laws, taxation etc. Both negatived by immense majorities. Notice of amendment on Franchise in Ireland and pending trials. Feeling with regard to a good understanding with France not satisfactory.
