Title
Letter from Sir Robert Peel to Queen Victoria
Date
29 July 1844
Writer
Peel, Robert, Sir, 2nd Baronet
Addressee
Victoria, Queen
Description
Peel thinks it would be advantageous to Parliamentary Business in the House of Lords and Queen Victoria's services generally, if Lord Stanley were called up to the Lords, to work in concurrence with and under the direction of Wellington. Government not well represented in the Lords by talent in debate, and Wellington feels the strain. It would create harmony between the two Houses.
