TitleLetter from Sir Robert Peel to Queen Victoria
Date30 July 1844
WriterPeel, Robert, Sir, 2nd Baronet
AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionCharitable Donations and Bequests Bill for facilitating endowments by voluntary grants and bequests, and for improving the Law in respect to Charitable Bequests in Ireland. Surprise at the opposition of some Irish Roman Catholic members; but orders had come from Ireland to oppose, many preferring a grievance to a remedy. Second Reading carried. Peel has reason to believe that he was under a misapprehension as to Lord Stanley's wish for immediate change. He rather wishes to move [to the House of Lords] at the commencement of another session.
