Description
The Lord Mayor to be honoured with a Baronetcy. A question arises as to the presentation of the Sheriffs of London to Queen Victoria. The Sheriffs protest against an arrangement made by the Lord Mayor, and claim presentation as a right. Peel dissents, but advises Queen Victoria. Usual to knight the Sheriffs on the occasion of the Sovereign's first visit to the City, but Peel demurs here, as this is not a first visit.
