Description
The interview [with the Archbishop of Canterbury respecting the Bishopric of Ely]. They agree on a Cambridge man, and name Doctors Turton and Lonsdale. Peel recommends Dr Turton. If he accepts the See of Ely, the Deanery of Westminster will be vacant. Peel recommends Dr Buckland, Canon of Christchurch. But Queen Victoria may wish Archdeacon Wilberforce to be appointed. If Dr Turton declines [Ely], the offer might be made to the Bishop of Lichfield.
