TitleLetter from Sir Robert Peel to Queen Victoria
Date1 February 1846
WriterPeel, Robert, Sir, 2nd Baronet
AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionMemorandum on Record (1839) at the Treasury regarding the allowance to Maids of Honour, and others in Queen Victoria's service. Peel also remarks that there was hardly sufficient reason to charge the Civil List with so much as £1,700. Yet the amount could scarcely now be withdrawn, lest there should be misconstruction on the part of ladies hereafter to be appointed Maids of Honour.
