DescriptionRussell has heard nothing more respecting the retirement of Lord Thomas Denman. When the resignation comes, Russell will write to Lord Campbell, but tell him the salary will not be more than £8,000. Owing to strong Protectionist cry, Russell proposes to defer peerages to Lord Albert Denison and Jones Loyd till Easter, but carry Lord Dufferin's into effect before Parliament meets.
