Description
Russell reminds Queen Victoria that it is ten years since he kissed hands. Debate [on the State of the Nation] concluded. Peel's powerful speech precluded all attempt on part of any Government to restore Protection. Disraeli's close was a very clever and amusing speech. (296 to 156). Russell thinks Disraeli's unsuccessful effort has strengthened the Government.
