Description
The Poor Relief Bill (for Ireland) went through Third Reading, and passed without division. Sir Charles Wood proposed the Connaught Railway bill (also known as the Railways and Distressed Unions (Ireland) Bill) and it was well received. Scottish bills debated. Scottish members generally opposed to them. Russell says the only course is to abandon them for the Session. [One bill was the Marriage (Scotland) Bill.] Russell says that no one has gained so much in reputation this Session than Sir Charles Wood, the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
