Description
Brougham threatens the Government with Vote of Censure; supposed to be the result of his efforts to bring Stanley and Aberdeen together. Cabinet reviewing the remaining business for the Session. Russell complains of difficulty in keeping the House together, so many Government supporters having left Town. Hence Russell asks Queen Victoria to spare [?Lord Admiral] Paget at Osborne. Civil Service Estimates: Russell says the last two days occupied with votes in Supply. Messrs Hume and Cobden wasted the night by motions for delay. Votes eventually obtained.
