Description
Another division on Marlborough House. Parliamentary Voters (Ireland) Bill: Russell proposed £12 instead of £15 (by the Lords). Bright made a democratic speech worthy of Queen Victoria's attention. [Motion - that the House disagrees with the Lords; passed by 213 to 90.] Hopes that the Lords will yield. Aberdeen has advised Stanley to agree to £12. Long debate [regarding Baron Rothschild's claim to take his seat in Parliament]. Page moved that the seat was full. Rejected, as not in form. Motion for a new writ by Thesiger rejected. The Attorney General will move resolutions on Monday to reject the baron's claim, but recommending legislation on the subject next Session.
