DescriptionRussell asks for a Privy Council. Chief Justice Jervis to be made a Privy Councillor, and the Solicitor General to be knighted. Russell recommends Lord Chichester a member of the Ecclesiastical Commission, with salary, under new Act of Parliament. Solicitor General (Alexander Cockburn) to be knighted at Privy Council. Captain Standford, at Lord Grey's desire, and Dr Outram also. Cabinet consider Prorogation cannot take place before the 15th. Russell recommends Dr Southwood to be Commissioner of the Board of Health, with salary under new Acts of Parliament. Russell says Sir George Grey thinks Queen Victoria should not travel by Northern Railway so soon after its opening.
