Description
Sir J. Pakington says Sir Harry Smith has just landed. He has seen Sir H. Smith's Private Secretary, and the news from the Cape Frontier War is good, but not conclusive. Sir H. Smith's move into the Amatalas in four columns was completely successful in clearing the district of the enemy. Several thousand cattle were taken, and the loss only 6 men and 1 officer killed. The despatches have not yet arrived.
