Description
Walpole, having heard from the Earl of Derby that Lord Hardinge should be appointed Commander-in-Chief, has given directions to the Adjutant General to open the Order announcing that appointment. Walpole sends Queen Victoria the form of the Order, and submits it that it may have Her Majesty's signature and be kept as a Record in the War Office.
