DescriptionLord Dalhousie (James Andrew, Marquis of Dalhousie) resigns his office of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, because of his absence in India. Queen Victoria does not think circumstances warrant this and withholds acceptance. She hopes Dalhousie will reconsider. Cospatrick Alexander, Earl of Home, named as Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland. Lord Fox Maule, 2nd Baron Panmure (after 11th Earl of Dalhousie) recommended as Lord Privy Seal by Lord Aberdeen. A post of dignity and without salary.
