Description
Queen Victoria's hope that Lord Aberdeen will reconsider. Though William Dargan did much in promoting the Dublin Exhibition, it might not be advisable to give him a baronetcy. Precedents quoted. Queen Victoria criticises the action of the Lord Lieutenants in conferring knighthoods without consulting her Government or receiving the sanction of the Sovereign. Lord Dalhousie resigns as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, but Queen Victoria does not think circumstances warrant this and withholds acceptance. She hopes Dalhousie will reconsider.
