Lord Aberdeen's request for Queen Victoria's sanction of the revival of this office, during Lord Raglan's (F.J.H.S., 1st Baron Raglan) absence from England, in the Crimea. General Sir Hew Dalrymple Ross proposed as Lieutenant General of Ordnance by Lord Aberdeen.
