DescriptionRobert Shapland, 2nd Baron Carew, proposed as Lord Lieutenant of County Wexford, on the death of his father, 'although it is not usual to appoint a son to succeed a father in such cases'. Lord Palmerston on the practice of giving the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland an honour on the relinquishment of their appointment. Proposal of a Grand Cross (G.C.B.) for Lord St Germans (Edward Granville Eliot, 3rd Earl of St Germans), in view of his not receiving anything on giving up Lord Lieutenancy of Ireland. Reference to Lord St Germans' share in the negotiation of the EIiot Convention, putting an end to the shooting of prisoners during the Civil War. Lord Sligo proposed by Lord Palmerston for the vacant Order of St Patrick ribbon.
