No offer made to Mr R.C. Trench. Reverend Charles Baring proposed. His qualifications. Deputation to Lord Palmerston to urge the separation of the two dioceses (united in 1836). Lord Palmerston's view. Suggested transfer of residence from Stapleton (near Bristol) to Gloucester.
