Description
Lord Palmerston on the destinations of German (Legion) troops not going to Cape Colony [South Africa]. The question of the appointment of a Chief Justice, Court of Common Pleas, on the death of Sir John Jervis. The Attorney General's right to succession when Chief Justiceships fall vacant. Sir Alexander Cockburn's fitness for the post. Doubt as to his desire for it. To be offered to him, subject to Queen Victoria's approval. Mr W.H. Watson proposed to succeed Baron Platt in the Court of Exchequer, on his retirement
