Description
Sir Alexander Gordon (Treasury Clerk) proposed as Commissioner, Inland Revenue. Composition of a military Commission proposed by Lord Panmure to report on the defensive system (detached forts etc.) in Belgium, France and Germany, with a view to deciding best measures at home. Persons responsible for reports on which Army promotion is based. The vacant Canonry of Salisbury found to be in the gift of the Lord Chancellor. Lord Palmerston to Queen Victoria on the functions to be exercised by Colonel Lefroy in the proposed appointment of the Director of Military Education.
