Description
Lord Palmerston's reply to Queen Victoria (VIC/MAIN/E/9/109) on measures for filling vacancies in India and for the home defence. Objections to using Militia to reinforce the regular army. Steps taken for recruiting. Lord Panmure requested to prepare a statement. Lord Granville confident of defeating the opposition and carrying all of the House of Commons amendments to the Divorce Bill. Queen Victoria's Speech for the Prorogation of Parliament submitted by Lord Palmerston (not included). Date proposed for a Council for its consideration.
