DescriptionLord Palmerston's reply to Queen Victoria's charges (VIC/MAIN/E/9/110) of insufficient activity by the Government. Lord Panmure's rough calculation of land force vote consequent on transfers to India and statements on recruiting and saving and expenditure, enclosed. His own explanation as to the position, Militia, etc. Cabinet decision to reduce the standard and to send two regiments to the Cape Colony [South Africa] and two that are now there, to India. Total number thus furnished by the Cape. Bill passed for the continuance of the Board of Health for a year. Resignation of Mr Monsell as President of the Board. Provision regarding the office of the President.
