Palmerston, Henry, 3rd Viscount
Addressee
Victoria, Queen
Description
Lord Palmerston on Mr Shaw Lefevre's choice of Eversley as his title, on being raised to peerage (after his retirement as Speaker). Precedents as to rank of peerage granted. Viscounty requested for him, as he 'may justly be said to have been the best Speaker who ever filled the Chair'. A record to be entered at Home Office against its being regarded as a precedent. Suggestion as to making him a Knight Grand Cross (G.C.B.) on precedent of Lord Canterbury (Charles Manners-Sutton, 1st Viscount Canterbury). Lord Palmerston on position regarding Ministers' Money (Ireland).
