Sir John Ramsden proposed to succeed as Under Secretary, War Office. Mr Horsman to resign Chief Secretaryship for Ireland. Mr Ralph Bernal Osborne mentioned as a possible successor; Palmerston 'inclined to think' him the fittest person for the post. Lord Palmerston on the objections to the appointment of Thomas George Baring (after 2nd Baron and 1st Earl of Northbrook) as Under Secretary, War Department. John George Dodson (after 1st Baron Monk Bretton) to be asked to move address, in answer to the Speech from the Throne. Walter Buchanan to second address, in answer to the Speech from the Throne.
