Title
Letter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date
21 September 1846
Writer
Victoria, Queen
Addressee
Russell, John, Lord
Description
Queen Victoria approves Lord Palmerston's [Foreign Secretary] draft regarding the Spanish Marriages, considering it firm but not irritating, and following the right line of conduct. The Queen thinks it judicious that no note should be presented to the French Government. The Queen concurs with Lord John Russell as to the passages about Don Francisco [Duke of Cadiz]. The Queen hopes that the French Government will not persist in this ill-judged marriage, and informs Lord John that when he sees Count Jarnac again, he can tell him how much annoyed the Queen was personally at 'this unfortunate Event'.
