TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date17 January 1847
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria says that the Bishop of Sodor and Man [Walter Shirley] may do homage tomorrow. With regard to the coinage, Queen Victoria had sent Russell an old coin. Her intention was not for the new coin to be like the old but to show that the arrangement of the coat-of-arms was not unprecedented. The Queen wishes Mr. [William] Wyon's die to be adopted.
