TitleLetter from Lord John Russell to Lord Grey
Date19 September 1849
WriterRussell, John, Lord
AddresseeGrey, 3rd Earl
DescriptionLord John Russell sends Lord Grey the continuance of correspondence between himself and the Duke of Wellington, in which he has given his opinion: but he would like to have Lord Grey's. He will then apply to [Sir Francis] Baring, etc., if there is any difference among them. He thinks it unfortunate, as well as extraordinary, that when he was at Balmoral the Queen's pleasure was taken, without any notice to him, observing that no loss of time would have been incurred. The questions are currently very delicate, and Lord John doubts that he could stay in office, if the List were persisted in.
[The question presumably concerns the Brevet: see VIC/MAIN/C/8/109.]
