TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date14 June 1848
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionThe Queen sends Lord John a very interesting letter from Lady Normanby [wife of the British Ambassador to France], which is perhaps the only account which gives an idea of the great danger Paris is in. How can they hit on such a man as Louis Napoleon? It would have been folly for the Prince de Joinville [Francois, third son of Louis Philippe, King of the French] to 'start himself' while there was an existing Republic.
