TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date23 July 1848
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionThe Queen was delighted that the Habeas Corpus Bill passed so admirably: its effect will do great good. She asks to see Mr. Ellice's letter from Paris. She mentions that there are three days on which she could not prorogue Parliament, two of them being because of the Duchess of Kent's and Prince Albert's birthdays (17 and 26 August). She assumes that because the Bill passed so quickly, the session may end sooner.
