TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date3 March 1848
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria forwards a most touching letter from the King [of the French], which she is sure will interest and please both Lord John and Lord Palmerston. To think that an aged monarch of 75, who has done so much for France and the peace of Europe, should be driven to this is very sad. He seems quite resigned and prepared to live as a private gentleman, and evidently here in England, where he always liked being. Queen Victoria has also received a beautiful letter from the Queen.
