TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date18 November 1848
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria feels it is unfortunate that, at this moment, more troops should need to be sent abroad, but it is a clear proof that England must not attempt to reduce its Army.
She approves of Lord John Russell's proposition relative to the Garter.
The news from Berlin makes the Queen anxious; but in Vienna all is quiet. Robert Blum [an Austrian publicist] met with a fate he much deserved, as he was the instigator of most of the revolts and of the murders of Prince Lichnowski and General Auerswald.
